Chessie Cat Tutorial

This tutorial was made using the Exclusive kit Passionate Patisserie by Pink Paradox Productions from Artistic Tag Passions forum.  This tutorial is not to be copied or reproduced in any way or used in any other place online without written consent.  This tutorial was written assuming the user has a working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro.  Any similarity to other tutorials is unintended and coincidental.

KIT: Exclusive kit by Pink Paradox Productions, Passionate Patisserie from Artistic Tag Passions forum.

MASK:  800x800 mask at Deana’s Digital Orchard and can be downloaded at this link HERE
or use a mask of your own.

TIP: I open the kit folder and drag and drop my images into my layers palette.
By doing this my layers already have the image name on each layer. 
Some like to use the PSP organizer or another way to get your images into your work canvas.
Use whatever way works best for you.  Name your layers to make things easier for you. 
Please know to feel free to adjust to please yourself at the end before you merge any layers. 
I’ve divided the tutorial into sections so it’s easier to know where you leave off and save. 
TIP:  To help prevent images from being cut off on around the edges I drag guide lines 
to each side of my canvas and activate my “Snap to Guides” under View tab. 

Grab a warm cup of fun and buckle up because I’m taking you for a ride.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Section 1~~~~~~~~~~~~

Open the mask in PSP 
Open paper 40 --> duplicate --> close the original. 
The duplicate paper will be your working canvas. 
Resize your red paper to 600x600 
Save as a .pspimage and don’t forget to save as you go along. 
Layer --> New Mask Layer --> From Image --> select the mask in the dropdown menu --> OK

Right click on layer and Merge Group 
Close mask. 

Drag image 176 into work canvas and move to far right
Drop Shadow (DS) 6 / 1 / 60 / 5.00 / #3f301f
Open paper 28.  Using the Section tool select the area shown in the screen shot around the lady.  

Copy then paste as a new layer  into your working canvas.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Section 2~~~~~~~~~~~~

Drag the next list of images into your working canvas and layers are to be in this order.
Resize as you go.
141grass --> resize 50%
142 floor --> resize 50%
84 chess  --> resize 25%
DS: 12 / 2 / 60 / 10.00 / black
83 chess --> resize 30%

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Section 3~~~~~~~~~~~~

Frame 4 --> resize 50%
176 branch --> Flip horizontal and position at the far left. 
  DS: 6 / 1 / 60 / 5.00 / #3f301f

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Section 4~~~~~~~~~~~~

Position items as shown in the image at the top.
The frame goes slightly to the right of horizontal center,
The checker flooring goes all the way to the right edge of canvas and down not quite to inside bottom of frame.
The top of the floor image just past the right inside of the frame. 
  Move the grass just past the right inside of frame with only half of the height showing above the top of floor.
The image of the lady move to the right inside of frame so you don’t see the writing on the right side. You can fine tune the individual images towards the end as you like.
 Don’t be concerned if the left side of these images are showing in the frame. 
They will be covered up by the cat later. 
 You can always change the sizes of these items if you are using a different tube and the left inside of frame will be seen.  

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Section 5~~~~~~~~~~~~

Activate Frame 4 layer.  With your Magic Wand tool select the inside of the frame.
Selections --> Modify --> Expand by 5 --> Selections again --> Invert 
Activate the flooring image 142 layer and delete. 
Activate the lady paper 28 layer and delete.
Activate the frame layer again and Invert the selection
DS: 11 / -9 / 60 / 25.00 / #3f301f
Deselect

With the selection tool with “Selection type” set to “rectangle”,
Select the area under the frame and when activating the branches
hit the delete key to remove the bottoms of the 2 branches only.
Deselect 

The screen shot shows what you should have thus far.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Section 6~~~~~~~~~~~~

Activate the top layer with image 176 (branch) on it.
Open more images in your layers palette.
141 grass --> resize 75%
Move it down to the bottom of the canvas
DS: 0 / -2 / 60 / 5.00 / #2e2010 

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Section 7~~~~~~~~~~~~ 

183 leaves as top layer --> resize 30%
Move to the left of canvas
Duplicate layer --> Mirror Horizontal (Cntl+B) 
Both 183 leaf layers --> DS: 6 / 2 / 60 / 10.00 / black 

3 cat > resize 65%
Move to the left of canvas so left side of cat is about to the left outside of frame.
DS: 12 / 12 / 60 / 50.00 / #2e2010
183 resize 30% flip horizontally (Cntl+M) and vertically (Cntl+I) 
Move to the lower right corner of the canvas
Duplicate layer --> Mirror Horizontal (Cntl+B) 
Both 183 leaf layers --> DS: 6 / 2 / 60 / 10.00 / black

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Section 8~~~~~~~~~~~~

Activate top layer
110 heart --> resize 30% --> Flip horizontally (Cntl+M) 
Rotate (Cntl+R) to the right 25 degrees --> Move to lower right corner of canvas 
DS: 8 / 6 / 60 / 10.00 / black 

157 daisy --> resize 20%
DS: 2 / 2 / 60 / 6.00 / black
Move to the bottom left of the heart  

154 daisy --> resize 35%
DS: 2 / 2 / 60 / 6.00 / black
Move to bottom right of center

 This is what yours should be similar to thus far.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Section 9~~~~~~~~~~~~

Drag and drop these images into your layers 

183 leaves --> resize 30%
DS: 6 / 2 / 50 / 15.00 / black
Move down to bottom over cats paws and center of white daisy.  

99 chain --> resize 40% --> Rotate left 25 degrees 
DS: 1 / 0 / 60 / 1.00 / black
Move to the left of cat until the chains heart is a little under the cats heart necklace.

156 daisy --> resize 20%
Go to Adjust -->Hue and Saturation --> Colorize --> Hue 255 Saturation 132 OK 
DS: 2 / 2 / 60 / 6.00 / black
Move to bottom right corner over bottom right side of heart. 

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Section 10~~~~~~~~~~~~  

108 note --> resize 30% 
Hue and Saturation --> Colorize --> Hue 255 / Saturation 132 / OK 
Move to just above bottom center of canvas 
DS: 6 / 2 / 50 / 15.00 / black

155 daisy --> resize 30% 
Hue and Saturation --> Colorize --> Hue 255 / Saturation 132 / OK 
DS: 2 / 2 / 60 / 10.00 / black
Move to bottom left corner  

154 daisy  --> resize 30% 
Hue and Saturation --> Colorize --> Hue 255 / Saturation 132 / OK 
DS: 2 / 2 / 60 / 10.00 / black
Move it above the previous flower.  

62 berries --> resize 20%
Move to lower right between white and pink daisies over bottom edge of the heart.
Duplicate --> resize 75% --> duplicate again
All berries DS: 2 / 2 / 60 / 6.00 / black
Move one small berry cluster to the far right between 2 large pink daisies
and the other small berry cluster to the top right corner of the note.  

154 daisy --> resize 20% 
Hue and Saturation --> Colorize --> Hue 255 / Saturation 132 / OK 
DS: 2 / 2 / 60 / 10.00 / black
Move it between the 2 larger pink daisies.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Section 11~~~~~~~~~~~~

50 candies --> resize 20% --> DS: 2 / 2 / 60 / 6.00 / black
Move candies down to bottom of canvas. 

Adjust layers, elements and tube to your liking.

Be sure to add any credits required.
Save your .pspimg layers
Save again as a .png
