Artistic Automaton Exclusive Tutorial by Bhamman

 This tutorial was written by Bhamman on 2nd May 2021, and assumes a working knowledge of psp.

Any similarity to other works is unintentional and purely coincidental. I only offer this tutorial as a guide,
express your individuality by using your creative self.

Artistic Automation

Supplies needed:
Tube of choice - I am using Steampunk 52 by Verymany HERE
Do not use this artwork without a licence.

Scrapkit - FTU Artistic Automation. This is an exclusive kit for members of ATP HERE

You need to be a member of our forum and collect the necessary ‘gems’ to obtain the kit.
Please use an alternative with similar colours if you don’t have this one.

Masks of your choice.
(I used Vivienne masks 83 png versions) HERE

Font of choice. (I used The Goldsmith Vintage)

Drop Shadow 3,1,45,12 Black.

No Filters.
My eraser brush settings: Default standard round brush:
Size: 50; Hardness: 50; Step: 20; Density: 100; Rotation: 0; Opacity: 25 or 30.
Don’t forget to sharpen or use the unsharp feature when re-sizing/rotating your elements/tube.
Except where noted I am working from back to front for my layering.
I am using PSP x2. Some of the effects may not be available in earlier versions.

Remember to save often in case of crashes!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Open blank canvas 750 x 750 px, floodfill white. (Re-size later)
(If you don’t want to do the later re-size then start with a 600 x 600 canvas and resize your elements accordingly.)
Open mask and tubes and minimise for now.
Open paper 26, copy/paste into canvas, resize 73%.
Copy/paste mask 83, re-size 90%, selections/select all/float/defloat/invert and on your paper layer – delete.
Deselect, hide the mask layer and re-size 90%. Move over and down to the right a little.
Duplicate this layer and move left and up a little.
Open ele 190 copy/paste into canvas, re-size 50%, duplicate, merge down, position left.
Open frame 2 copy/paste into canvas, re-size 40%, position left.
Open paper 12, copy/paste into canvas, resize 30%, position behind the frame and using you pick tool re-size the height
to give a background in the frame window. Drop shadow the frame.
Open the tube, copy and paste the close up, mirror and re-size to 30%, position left in the frame and move the layer between the paper layer and frame layer.
On the background paper layer - selections/select all/float/defloat/invert and
on your tube layer – delete. Deselect, change the layer property to Luminance(L) and reduce opacity to around 42%.
Time to add a couple more background layers.
I used ele 186, re-size 50%, move layer between the tube layer and frame layer, position as shown on the example.
I used ele 99, re-size 50%, position as shown on the example, reduce opacity to 50%.
Open the tube, copy and paste the main image and re-size to 50%, position right.
Duplicate twice and move these duplicates below the main tube in the layers palette.
Move one copy forward and down a little and the other copy back and up a little.
Change the opacity on both to 25%. I then used my eraser brush to tidy up the 2 duplicates as shown in the example and also
remove a bit of the background mask where the angle dimension was duplicated.
Drop shadow the tube.
Time to add some more elements, see completed tag above for placement.
I used the following:
Ele 29 copy/paste into canvas, re-size 40%. Drop shadow.
Ele 50 copy/paste into canvas, re-size 32%. Drop shadow
Ele 8 copy/paste into canvas, re-size 25%. Drop shadow.
Ele 54 copy/paste into canvas, re-size 25%. Drop shadow.
Ele 143 copy/paste into canvas, re-size 26%. Drop shadow.
Ele 144 copy/paste into canvas, re-size 26%. Drop shadow.
Ele 121 copy/paste into canvas, re-size 21%. Drop shadow.
Ele 51 copy/paste into canvas, re-size 27%. Drop shadow.
Ele 32 copy/paste into canvas, re-size 25%. Drop shadow.
Add any other elements as you wish.
Check on how it looks and make any final adjustments.
Time to re-size the image, Image/re-size, in the advanced settings box:
Resize all layers checked, all other settings as default, 88% re-size.
Add copyright and licence information then close off white background layer and add names as required.
I used font Goldsmiths Vintage, drop shadow of 3, 1, 45, 6 black.
Export as png on transparent background.
Thanks for trying this tutorial out.
